Paula picked Danny’’s song; “Dance Little Sister” by Terrence Trent D’Arby.
The judges ofcourse put in their two cents. Randy smiled saying “way to jump it off ” and calling it “dope.” Kara said she liked the song choice and it was the “money spot” but did not like the dancing. “Way to go,” said Paula also adding “way to go.” Simon called Danny’s dancing “desperate” and said he would have picked a different song.
Danny slowed things down with “You are so Beautiful” by Joe Cocker.
Randy said that this just proved why Danny is here because he can sing. Which is what this competition is about. Kara said “everything you didn’t do in your first performance you just did it” calling Danny’s performance “stunning.” Paula said that he showed his gospel and R&B part of his voice and that he “nailed it.” Simon said the song did not need rearranging calling it a “vocal masterclass.”
So how will American vote? Will Danny go on to be in the Top2?
Danny decided to test the waters and go outside of his safe zone tonight. Trying to reach the high pitch like Steven Tyler he did Aerosmith’s “Dream On.” His performance was brill ant in my book, UNTIL…….. he did not quite reach the level that Steven does. But he did at least put forth a great effort and was only doing what the judges kept telling him to do. But who really can do what Steven Tyler does? According to Simon, this was like something out of a horror movie but still keeps Danny safe this week. Paula rocked out with him as usual, but said she wasn’t sure if this was such a good song choice for him. Randy said it was “alright” but still gave him an A+ for effort. I am sure we will still see Danny in the Top 3!!!
This was maybe the most forgone conclusion in the first round of Idol history. His performance was on a completely different level than everyone else last night and he was rewarded. Danny will be moving into the Top 12 and is the early favorite!
